Answers for Week 9

Here are the answers to our Week 9 Quiz.  1. Hurt. The songs/artists are Styx, The Stones, I Want to Break Free, Little Bones, Say my Name, Never be the Same. Sticks and Stones with Break my Bones but Names will Never HURT me.  2. Meat Loaf. All other artists are fruit: Cranberries, Neneh Cherry, Blind Melon and Bananarama. 3. France. The decimals represent the national holiday (Day.Month) for each country. France is July 14. 4. Iraq. These are all of the “I” countries (Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Iran, India, Indonesia, Italy). Iraq is missing. Note Ivory Coast is not a country (Cote D’Ivoire) 5. Elvish. Elvish is a language, no? And Elvis is an entertainer. 6. Kutcher (Ashton). OK here we go: Eric Stoltz was replaced by Michael J. Fox (in Back to the Future). Fox got the Parkinson’s and was replaced by Charlie Sheen (Spin City). Nine weeks. Nine looong weeks. Imagine how unbearable this pandemic would have been without some A to Z Triv, wha'? Speaking of A to Z, we have 26 questions, each one has an answer that is a different letter of the alphabet. Week 8 Answers

1. Explosion. Each song suggests explosion: TNT, Boom Boom Pow, Dynamite, Cherry Bomb, Champagne Supernova 2. Yeah Yeah Yeahs: They all have double words (Duran Duran, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Goo Goo Dolls, Mr. Mister, Ting Tings), but The Yeah Yeah yeahs took it to triple strength 3. Apostrophe (O’Connor, Sweet Child o’ Mine (G’N’R), Can’t Feel my Face, T’Pau, O’Siem, Des’ree, Don’t Stop Believin’) 4. OBGYN. How weird. It is an acronym for Obstetrics and Gynecology. But not OG, or ObGy. It’s O-B-G-Y-N (but, like the B doesn’t stand for anything). Why is that? 5. Gary. Larrys, Jerrys, Barrys, Carys, Harrys, Perrys are all on the outs too.
