January 18, 2022: YellowBelly A to Z Trivia

The YellowBelly A to Z Trivia Quiz got picked up for another week, for Season 3, Episode 2. With 30 teams last week, we feel we can keep this going until Dr. Fitz tells us to give it up.

Each answer begins with a different letter of the alphabet. So, once a letter is gone, there's no turning back. Unless you made a mistake. Then you should turn back. Email your answers to YellowBellyTrivia@gmail.com by 8:30pm NDT on January 18, 2022. We had a few tips last week, so thanks for that. Tip jar remains...OPEN! Feel free to e-transfer to the same email above if you see fit. Now, on with the show.

Let's start off with three music montages hosted on Soundcloud - songs may play out of order, so pay attention to that:

1. Music 1 The six songs in this montage share a very simple common bond. Name it.

2. Music 2 There are six clips in this montage. The name of the song is played in many of them, so that's not the connection - we are looking for a two-word quirk they all share.

3. Music 3 There are four clips in this montage, and they share a four-letter common bond. What is the connection?

4. Last summer, he set a new world record in his specialty – a record that had stood for almost 30 years. A month later on a larger stage, he shattered his own record by a larger margin than anyone in the previous 60 years. He won the race by a wide margin, but the silver medalist also easily beat the old record. Give his last name.

5. They all have something specific in common. Can you name what it is?

6. A Scrabble question for the second week in a row! If proper names were allowed, but all other game rules normal, this capital city would score the most of any capital to start a game of Scrabble, with a whopping 86 points! Name the capital city.

7. This is the name of an endangered species of an animal. The name derived from a misspelling of an African town on a shipping container in the early 20th century. It is estimated that there are less than 50,000 left in the wild – all located in one of the larger African countries. Its name also starts with the name of a very famous person. Fun Facts: it is also the name of a musician and a couple of obscure films. Name the animal.

8. This rare sports occurrence has happened only four times in televised competitions - the most recent last year, but had not been seen on TV for 30 years previous. It happened in a sport that has a few common variations, and pretty much everyone has played it at some time in their lives. The rarity in question has a nickname that is found in many other sports. Hope you figure it out, Dude. Name the sports occurrence.

9. The images above, clockwise, should make you think of what?

10. Hopefully this question will make you smile. In Argentina, the word is whiskey. In Sweden, it’s omelette. In Denmark it’s orange; in Morocco, it’s bread; in Bulgaria, it’s cabbage. And in most English speaking countries (including Canada) and many other non-English-speaking countries, it is this word.

11. Findings by a commissioned research study by this company more than 20 years ago found that the equivalent of a little more than $500,000 worth of their flagship product (more than 20,000 gallons) was lost in facial hair each year. Name the company.
