March 9, 2021, YellowBelly A to Z Trivia

It's YellowBelly Season 2, Episode 4. How cute, we've been in lockdown for FOUR WEEKS now, and this is our 17th online quiz, total. Many people (Mayans, for example) have started using episodes of YellowBelly A to Z Trivia Quizzes as units of time.

"That's so YB Season 1."

"I stubbed my toe, like 2 YB episodes ago"
Shall we continue with more fake examples? No?

Email all of the answers you have to YellowBellyTrivia@gmail.com by 8:30pm NST on March 9, 2021. Will this episode be harder than the fairly straightforward Episode 3? Well, it will certainly be more annoying.

Let's start, as we always do, with some music, hosted on the website Soundcloud.

1. Based on the four songs that are in this clip, what Michael Jackson song also belongs?

2. There are four songs in this clip, and there is something very unique in common. Once you figure it out, find a drink that also obeys this property. That’s your answer. https://soundcloud.com/yellowbelly-trivia/find-a-drink-march-9-2021

3. A famous novelist, one of the most noted authors in a particular genre, also wrote a book in a completely different genre, that was adapted into a famous film. 4. This item above has a unique design, taste, and name.

5. If you tell someone you saw 88 butterflies, you might be talking about seeing a lot of butterflies. Or, you might be talking about seeing what nine-letter Latin word?

6. Math time: In the world of wine, using the short definitions in the formula, and thinking of the answer in terms of SI units, solve the equation above (BTW, the “Actress from 90210” is an exponent), and express your integer answer as a Roman numeral. Ha!

7. A poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson ended up being the inspiration for what brand name?

8. There is only one US state/capital city combo in which no letters in the state’s name are shared with the capital city’s name. Name the capital city.

9. Of the top 30 chess players in the world, only one is a teenager. He recently moved from his country to a new country, largely because he was being forced to skip games against people from what country?

10. If you look at the characters in this collage above, and find what they have in common, it should remind you of a meme, called what?
11. This s
tage name is also a profession. This person's real last name is the same (but spelled differently) as:
(1) a famous musician and actor whose career spanned more than 60 years;
(2) a controversial internet personality; and
(3) a large sporting goods company.
This person initially went to college on a basketball scholarship, and has TV, film, and video game credits. Give the stage name. 12. Vexing Vexillology, Batman! Two countries bumped into each other for possibly the first time at an event, and discovered they had the same national flag! One country had another feature that they only sometimes used, and the other country promptly added a new feature to end the confusion. Name the country with the larger population. 13. It is hard to think of anyone else famous whose first and last name both start with this particular letter - there is a superstar athlete, but not many others. The person in question has won or has been nominated for dozens of acting awards, in her own country and in North America. Name this person.

14. Something very specific (and weird) is going on with the pictures in the above collage. Look closely. They are all _______. (The answer is a word that would get you 26 points as an opening word in Scrabble.)

15. We've tampered with this logo a bit; cropping, flipping... No points to figure out that this is a logo somehow related to a specific country. But 10 out of 10 on the irony scale, this is actually from the logo for that country's ______ _______? (2 words) 16. There are two famous men who people know by stage names. One stage name is 3 letters; the other’s two names start with the same letter. They both have unique hairstyles and facial hair. They appeared together in a film - for both, it was their first significant role. Give the name of the character played by the taller of the two in that film. 17. There is a local tale of a noblewoman who was stranded on an island referred to with a demonic name. She survived cold winters and an alleged bear attack. Today, the island has a less frightening, but rather unusual name: _______ Island. There is also communities called: _________ Little ______ ______ Harbour and even Little ______ Harbour. Fill in the blank. 18. This short first name derives from Greek. - In one culture, it is a male first name of a former ruler and a world-famous pioneer (known for being the first to do something). - In nearby Japan, it is a common female first name. - In South Korea it is a unisex name (like Kelly). - In Mexico, it is the one-word name of a well-known celebrity. - In its anglicized form, it is the name of many famous rulers, but the Greek and English forms have only one letter in common, and sound nothing alike. Give the name. 19. This artist has a ‘solo band’, and he is the songwriter, who played every instrument and sang every note on his debut album. His first name is immediately associated with primarily one person (not him, no relation). His surname is also iconic. He was notably a member of a band that is enshrined in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (RRHF). The former name of the RRHF band + his initials = his 'solo band'. Give his surname.

20. The photo above is not a Rorschach. We altered the configuration (moved some shapes around), but not the scale or number of shapes. What or where is this?
21. Tricky wording alert: there is a well-known movie tag team who appeared in at least 8 projects together. They are known as "A & B C" (like Pinky & The Brain, but not that, of course). Swap the A and the C, to form: "C & B A". Now, there are two words after the ampersand: "B A". There is only one word used in English, according to Merriam-Webster, that satisfies "B A". Give the word. 22. There are some state capitals that have the same last letter or so, like Olympia and Helena (both end in A), or Bismarck and Little Rock (both end in CK), etc. Find the two US state capitals that share the MOST final letters in common. 23. Shirley you remember that a need for survival and love for this fruit triggered a cooperative understanding for these two creatures.

24. I am a Canadian town. Half of my 8 letters are the same vowel, and the town begins and ends with the vowel. I am not a top 10 municipality in my province, but made the top 20 (in population). Name the town.

25. What do all of these people have in common? 26. This well-known character was adopted, married his childhood sweetheart, and made an interesting switch from mechanic to screenwriter. He has twin sons, and his character appeared as a child on television and film, as a teen in television and film, and in at least three films as an adult. His first name is extremely unique. Give the character's last name.
