MArch 2, 2021 YellowBelly Answers

Hmmm… three teams submitting perfect scores in the first hour (7 in by 8:04!), we may not have pushed things as hard this week. Or maybe y’all just getting better. We did love the trivia set this week, but watch out Episode 4 on March 9! We shall be ruthless.

Also, a couple of oopses this week where 2 answers work. Sorry!

1. Lemon, Liz. All the songs or artists mention a fruit (score to Tina Fey’s Liz Lemon): Peaches, Passionfruit, Bananarama, Raspberry Beret, Cranberries, Blind Melon

2. Punctuation. All artists feature a form of it: Guns ‘n Roses, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Hey Rosetta!, The B-52’s, fun., will.i.am, Panic! at the Disco

3. Vito. Brando and De Niro won Oscars for playing Vito Corleone

4. Religion. Britney Spears is an anagram of “Presbyterians” and Pepsi-Cola is an anagram of “Episcopal” (Also, Belly Button is an anagram of “Butt, no belly”, and B’nai Brith is an anagram of “Thin Rabbi”, by the way. That’s all I got.)

5. Bean. Council of Elrond (LOTR franchise, as Boromir), Project Elrond (The Martian, as Mitch Henderson)

6. Alphabetical order (or Abecedarian Words/Order) The letters in each word are in alphabetical order in the word itself.

7. Jigsaw. From Saw franchise, played by Tobin Bell (Brian Tobin).

8. Queen: They are all Queen Albums. A Night at the Opera, News of the World, The Game, Flash Gordon, Jazz, A Day at the Races. Credit: Andrew Dominie!

9. ZZ Top. ZZ Top’s first album is called ZZ Top’s First Album. Meta.

10. Turks and Caicos: The design had two piles of sea salt - some stunned patser back in London thought they were igloos and put a door on one, and it was like 99 years before it was fixed

11. Uzbekistan: boxed in by Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan. Hit me back, just to chat, truly yours, your biggest fan, this is Stan

12. Krakatoa. (Eruption gets you a point, but messes up Q26). Even though Mount Krakatoa erupted 10 years before the painting came to light, they say Munch may have painted it earlier or it was a memory of when Krakatoa made skies around the world glow orange.

13. Mrs. Met. One of two Big-headed mascots for the New York Mets. Also screwed up here as Rosie red is correct too. Sorry sorry sorry

14. Yount. Robin and his brother, I dunno, let’s say Clyde or Herman or Larry...who knows. No, it actually is Larry. Nice job, Larry. Question courtesy of Scott Simms.

15. Delaware called the 12 mile circle.

16. Onomatopoeia. Zoom, Crash Bandicoot, Crackle, Fiz, Buzz Lightyear, Wham!, and Cap’n Crunch

17. William. Each guy’s middle name.

18. Gartrelle, Gordon: Theo wore this on The Cosby Show; hilarity ensued.

19. Haberdasher: Hab, Bird, Ashur.

20. Charleston. Doing the Charleston (not The Carlton) in the city of Charleston

21. Namephreak: Herb Caen coined the term ‘beatnik’, and popularized ‘hippie’, and wrote a column about people whose surnames were apt to their jobs.

22. Sunglasses: All the movie posters feature sunglasses. This question was nabbed from Ken Jennings - we liked it so much!

23. Xanax: A product of Pfizer (vaccine and Viagra (rhymes with Niagara)) maker) – the actress referenced is Michelle Pfeiffer

24. India: Nine countries that currently are reported to have nuclear weapons

25. Father-in-Law: Pete Davison is David Tennant’s real-life father-in law.

26. Ejegayehu. The other champion DiBaba sisters from Ethiopia are Genzebe and Tirunesh. The Ingebrigtsen brothers don’t nearly have the resume (yet) of the DiBabas.
